About me
I'm currently a PhD Student in Computer Science with a focus in Machine Learning. I received my bachelor’s and master’s degree in Computer Science both at the University of Basel in 2016 and 2018 respectively, with my MSc being focused on Machine Intelligence. As a student assistant and during my master thesis I worked with data from heavily pretreated HIV-1 patients, focusing on finding treatment-relevant dependency networks between genomic mutations and the respective treatments.
In 2019 I started my PhD, where I'm now part of the WeObserve project, which is funded by the Big Data National Research Programme. The work in the project focuses on modeling the movement of migratory birds using heterogeneous data from weather radar measurements and Citizen Science observations.
In terms of research, I'm currently interested in Deep Latent Variable Models and variational approximations to Gaussian Processes, but also have a broad interest in general Machine Learning and Deep Learning.
In my free time I enjoy playing guitar and going bouldering/climbing.
